Spatial Dynamics has worked with the US Bureau of Reclamation’s (USBOR) Pacific Northwest Regional Office to develop property interest spatial databases for multiple locations in Idaho and Oregon. Spatial Dynamics conducted production data development for a spatial database to track real property owned or utilized, currently or previously, by the USBOR. The project involved development of spatial database records using Coordinate Geometry (COGO) techniques to prepare property maps based on legal descriptions from deeds filed with the USBOR. The database addresses fee lands, easements, crossings by other parties, withdrawals, restorations, and property disposals. Specific tasks included database specification; records research; deed review and spatial data extraction; base map geometric control; COGO GIS coverage construction including edge-matching; database data entry; quality assurance/quality control; and digital data delivery of GIS and tabular data.
The delivered product was a series of Arc/INFO coverages representing the USBOR’s property interests in a particular location. A Microsoft Access database containing all the information from the deeds and the plat sheets is delivered with the spatial data. The database contains the information from the property deeds themselves, and acts as a bridge between the spatial data and the USBOR’s Resource Information System and the project office records systems.
