Working with an interagency team, Spatial Dynamics is developing an adaptive monitoring framework software tool, which is an integration of FEAT (Fire Ecology Assessment Tool) and FIREMON (Fire Effects Monitoring and Inventory System). This monitoring tool is designed to assist resource managers with data collection, storage, and analysis of ecology information. The project is funded by the National Park Service with oversight provided by the Fire Ecology and Fuels Technical Transfer Working Group (chartered under the Fuels Group). The initial version of FFI has been released.
The integrated system is designed to work on Windows XP® operating systems. Data is stored in a SQL Express database and is accessed with SQL and dotNet code. ESRI Arc products are used for GIS functionality. FFI is designed to meet the IT requirements of the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Fish and Wildlife Service.
